Abstract: |
Despite the English description, the raise boring originated in Germany, where the first raise boring machine was developed by the engineer Bade in 1949. Today it is possible to bore diameters of more than 7 m and depths of more than 1,200 m with machines, which can apply tension forces of about 1,600 t and torques of about 1,100 kNm. The deepest shaft yet bored by the raise boring method has a depth of 1,260 m and a diameter of 7.10 m. |
