Abstract: |
Telecommunication towers in Switzerland do not need to be particularly tall structures; there is ample mountainous terrain for unobstructed sites. The Bantiger Tower is situated in a sub-alpine region at an altitude of 950 m above sea level. The 181 m tall tower was expected to withstand wind speeds of up to 190 km/h, with serviceability guaranteed up to a wind speed of 150 km/h. In addition to wind, the effects of temperature differences also needed to be considered in the design. |
