Abstract: |
Prefabrication is an industrialized construction process with great promise for the future. It offers a possible remedy to steadily rising construction costs and can meet the demands of society for faster, more environmentally friendly construction, higher quality and reduced energy consumption during construction and operation. Competition from in situ concrete and other building materials has forced the precast industry to continually improve its products. Automation is becoming more attractive as a means to achieve increased productivity and cost-efficiency. Component System Building together with Computer Integrated Construction will find increasing use to meet the challenges of flexibility, efficiency, cost-competitiveness and safe working conditions. |
