Transverse reinforcement in the flanges of T-beams

The flanges of T beams are subjected, at their junctions with the web, to in-plane and bending forces which can produce the cracking of the flanges and, eventually, its separation from the web. This separation must be prevented by the prevision of reinforcement in the flanges. A method, based on finite element analyses and other authors experimental data, is proposed for the design of this reinforcement.
