Abstract: |
In recent years, the intelligizing of buildings have been vigorously promoted and cities, in whole, are planning to become highly information oriented. Thus, the authors in search of better means for safety and life amenities in high-rise buildings, have proposed a seismic response controlled structure that endeavors to actively control the seismic vibrations from the inner function of the building. This system has been successfully put to practical application, as the pioneer such system in the world. The high damping system introduced here is a newly developed passive type seismic control system that works by incorporating a highly efficient oil damper of large energy absorption capacity into the framework of a tall building. This has a significant vibration-reducing effect, hitherto unknown, against earthquakes and strong winds to achieve the foregoing objectives. |
