Abstract:

According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), there were 16.2 million light electric vehicles (EVs) on the world's roads by the end of 2021, more than three times as many as in 2018. Those figures will grow strongly the next few years considering that EV sales doubled in 2021 compared to 2020, reaching an all-time high of 6.6 million vehicles. To better understand this high rate of sales, it is enough to think that currently as many EVs are sold in one week as were sold in the whole of 2012.
