Abstract:

Additive manufacturing (AM) is the industrial production name for 3D printing, a computer‐controlled process that creates three dimensional objects by deposing materials, usually in layers. The improvement of the techniques of AM (decrease of deposition time and/or decrease of the cost of the solution) is leading to an increase of the competitiveness of the solution and therefore the use of additive manufacturing in different applications, namely Civil/Structural Engineering application, is increasing significantly. In this study, a market trend analysis along with some examples of possible applications of AM in different fields of construction is addressed.
