Abstract: |
With the increasing heights of super tall structures, modern super tall structures become more and more slender, which will cause the human comfort problem of structures to be assignable under wind loads. In result, it becomes more and more common for structural engineers to apply viscous damping systems. Outrigger dampers are efficient devices to provide additional damping for super tall structures. In order to meet the contribution to additional damping of outrigger damper system conveniently, a simplified model of structures with outrigger damper system based on Timoshenko beam is proposed, and the dynamic equilibrium equations of the simplified model are introduced. A design method for outrigger dampers based on the simplified model and the dynamic equilibrium equations is proposed. 729-meter real super tall structure project is employed to validate the simplified model and the design method. |
