Abstract: |
Possible monitoring strategies for snow covered roofs of tendon based bearing structures and spanned over large area halls are considered and compared in this paper. Service reliability of such roofs is usually determined by the risk of estimated tensile stresses exceeding the bearing capacity of single tendons. The balance of obtained gains versus incurred costs quantified via the so called value of information factor has been assumed as the eficiency measure of the considered solutions. This factor takes into account, for each considered case, both the failure probability and the consequences of such failure. The considered strategies are differentiated by the complexity of actions taken as well as the uncertainty level of the formal model applied to develop the mathematical description of the problem. |
