This article describes a simple method for considering sustainability aspects when making engineering related disaster recovery decisions. The method is applied to the recovery decisions of an unprecedented storm in Columbia SC USA, where a canal dike failure threatened the city’s drinking water supply and disabled their hydroelectric power plant. |
