Abstract: |
Between 1930 and 1990, many traffic bridges are constructed consisting of a hardwood deck supported by a steel structure. The hardwood decks have to be replaced regularly. This paper discusses using extruded aluminium bridge decks as an alternative for timber decks for renovation of these bridges. Special attention is paid on fatigue design and connections between steel and aluminium structures. |
