Abstract:

Bridge design engineers used to analyze and design bridges with plan finite element software. But now for the sake of aesthetics, there are more and more special or abnormal shape structure types which need spatial analysis to get the true service mechanical behaviours and satisfy the basic requirement for the safety, economy and durability of bridge or structure. In this paper, as an example, one fly-bird-type arch bridge was analyzed with plan finite element software and spatial software from concept design to construction design. The key points and optimization processes were introduced.
