Abstract: |
This lecture will discuss human skin as a starting point to look at lightweight membrane building envelopes. It will examine the historical separation of structure and form and look at the required integration in membrane structures. Examples of the work of FTL will be used as descriptive case studies to illustrate the different aspects of these membrane envelopes including: structure, form, acoustics, shading, lighting, energy, insulation and water collection. |
