Abstract: |
Cable-stayed bridges are nowadays one of the most challenging structures for the civil engineering community, representing a key point in the transport network whose seismic behaviour must be perfectly predicted. In this study the seismic response of a large number of linear and nonlinear cable-stayed bridges models has been analyzed, verifying the seismic influence of tower shape, cable-arrangement, main span or foundation soil. Due to plastification problems identified, and following the current trend of cable-stayed bridge design in seismic zones, the incorporation of metallic and viscous fluid dampers has been explored. |
