Abstract:

First built in A.D. 198, Wandu Mountain City, which lies 2.5 kilometers north to Ji’an City of Jilin Province, was the site of the once important capital of early-middle Koguryǒ. In this article, we creatively reconstruct a group of palace complex on Wandu Mountain City by combining the survey of the present remains and the analysis of archaeological excavation report and previous research findings with traditional architectural theory and construction technology. Based on the analysis of the characteristics of different parts of the palace remains, the article elaborates the determination of the reconstruction date of the Wandu Mountain City Palace, provides grounds for reconstruction design and reconstructs the whole architectural complex on the four stylobates.
