Abstract:

The transport infrastructure has the important signification for economy and management of each country. It is very important to build not only new transport nets, but also to maintain and well manage existing road and railway communications. From this viewpoint, the question how to manage the existing bridge structures on the most economical and the most effective way is offered.

In the paper, the partial safety factors for materials and load effects recommended according to Eurocode for bridge members subjected to bending are presented. In the frame of research

activities of the Department of structures and bridges, the modified reliability levels for existing bridge evaluation were derived. These levels were used for determining partial safety factors for materials and loads.
