Abstract: |
The vibration of deck may result in parametric vibration of stay cable in cable-stayed bridge system. Aiming at investigating the nonlinear parametric vibration characteristics of long stay cable, a mathematical model is setup in which the cable is considered as a geometric nonlinearity string element The spatial problem is solved by using Galerkin’s method to simplify the governing equations to a set of ordinary differential equations and only the first mode of the cable is considered. Then the multiple time scales method is applied to derive the first-order solutions with numerically computed amplitude-frequency. The results show good agreement between the analytical and numerical solutions. |
