Movable bridges are important parts of the infrastructure of countries having harbors and inland waterways. Forms and features of major types of movable bridges are described including the operating machinery. Problems of inspection and rehabilitation are discussed as are new trends in design brought about by a greater emphasis on aesthestics. |
