Abstract: |
The London Legacy Development Corporation plans to modify temporary footbridge TF03 built adjacent to permanent bridge F03 across the River Lea within the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London, United Kingdom. Atkins was involved in a tender stage design for the proposed modification works. The temporary to permanent transformation had to match the permanent bridge in terms of aesthetics, elegance and architectural detailing. Tt also had to gel with the overall landscape development visualised by the architect. The paper illustrates how coordinated efforts of engineers and architects have created an elegant structure that fits within the overall development scheme of the park. |
