Abstract:

The paper deals with aeroelastic interactions between turbulent wind loads and structural response of lightweight bridges. It introduces an integrated approach including tests performed in BLWT (Boundary Layer Wind Tunnel) and numerical simulations in time domain. In particular, different steps useful in the context of bridge design against bridge action are described, by pointing out the different features of the proposed tools.

Such an integrated approach can be usefully adopted in current design practice, as it is shown in the study case.
