Abstract: |
The paper discusses a countryside eco-bridge designed to serve pedestrians and cattle in an agricultural area near Cairo in Egypt. This green design presents a simple and safe link that addresses serviceability and economy. The designer proposed a crossing made out of steel and cast-in-place concrete. Special architectural treatments were applied to demonstrate the flexibility of concrete and steel. Steel railings, protecting fences, attractive light poles and textured concrete stairs complement the character of this particular site. Color and texture are chosen to be coherent with the environment inspired by climate, culture and landscape. |
