Abstract:

Traditionally, the design process has been led by the architect with the engineer ensuring the structural integrity of the architect’s design. This paper explores how design collaboration that integrates both disciplines differs from this model. The project descriptions implicitly explain how an architect/engineer collaborative process works, whilst noting how this leads to a ‘delightful efficiency’ in design and construction.
