Abstract:

The paper presents the result of analysis made for renovation and strengthening of historical arch bridges, typical for the beginning of XX century. Presently, most of similar spans are in bad condition because of the corrosion of the deck, mainly as a result of poor maintenance. Another problem occurs regarding recent loads. The purpose of the analysis was to increase the load-carrying capacity retaining the original lattice arch structure. Several conceptions of revitalization were considered and finally a comparison of the original and rebuilt structure is presented.
