Abstract: Record breaking cable stayed and Suspension bridge tender designs habe been prepared for the Great Belt Bridge in Denmark. The development of the two main span concepts is presented as well as the special equipment incorporated to satisfy the very strict deflection criteria for the heavy duty double track railway. A comparison of cable stayed and Suspension bridge types for very long span bridges is made, on the basis of the Great Belt Bridge tender projects.
