Abstract:

In this paper we present the workings of a new platform designated for assessment and management of a large number of bridges. The platform combines advanced inspection and testing techniques, digital twinning, and Structural Health Monitoring (SHM). The overall goal of the framework developed by Kinemetrics is to construct an SHM platform that will efficiently monitor the safety and reliability of bridge infrastructure in big cities. However, on a more general level, our aim is to increase public safety as well as to reduce life cycle costs of bridge maintenance. For this reason, this project draws special attention to asset management that is supported by appropriate SHM and digital twin technologies. Moreover, this framework takes into account the ways the proposed platform can be successfully implemented for two types of possible events: regular SHM as well as the required examination subsequent to sudden disasters, such as earthquakes.
