Abstract: | The theme of the design of bridges is not only a matter of structural challenges and research of new thresholds for engineering, but is much more, concerning aesthetics and the perception of a new mark on the landscape; before focusing on the strictly structural issues, it is important to analyze the functions of the bridge itself, its best place of insertion in order to minimize its visual impact and, if possible, to guarantee a pleasant and efficient dialogue between the new structure and the surrounding environment. According to this principles, the footbridge on the river Brenta which is described in this paper, is a simple structure, but pays a careful attention to the strong history and tradition of this part of the Venetian land, characterized by breathtaking views and historic constructions. |
