Abstract:

This paper proposes a weld-free built-up structural member formed by joining two cold-formed channel steel members with bolts without welding. The channels were cold-formed of a newly developed high-strength steel (H-SA700A). The flexural strength of the member was clearly evaluated through a lateral-torsional buckling test. The sectional shape of the member is changed in the longitudinal direction, so a new torsion constant calculation equation is proposed. The values obtained from this calculation were compared with the experimental results to confirm validity of the calculation.
