Abstract: |
Verification of the acoustic emission method (AE), by the identification and analysis of active damage processes (IADP), is presented in the paper. Signals database was determined for individual processes appearing in reinforced concrete in specially planned laboratory tests. Comparing AE signals, generated within structures under service load, with previously created database, one can identify the processes of active damage occurring in an element. They can be located on the basis of the difference in the time, that AE signal reaches the sensors with known wave velocity. Experiments were carried out on concrete beams subjected to continuous loading, up to failure load. It was found that using the IADP method, it was possible to detect and locate creation of cracks. It was even possible to recognise creation of shear cracks and bending cracks. |
