Abstract: | An experimental-numerical comparison of the forced and ambient vibrations of a multispan composite plate-girder bridge was performed. The bridge was modelled using a finite element program at three levels of complexity, including a simple 250 degrees-offreedom model that utilises a single beam element to represent the entire bridge cross section. Difficulties encountered in the development of the simple model are discussed. The dynamic properties predicted by the simple model were consistent with those measured on the bridge and computed using more detailed finite element models. |
