This study focuses on Roman earthenware pieces manufactured specifically for bath construction. Considered are pieces for the hypocaust (to pave the area or to support the suspensura) and those for heating the hollow walls (concameratione) and the vaults. Special attention is paid to the construction properties of these pieces and hypotheses are suggested for the appearance of new types (setting aside variations in size. |
