Abstract:

The main objective of this study is to generate a comprehensive evaluation of the LiDAR’s effectiveness in structural assessment of the bridge support condition through measurement of the deflection and stiffness of a scale bridge. Measurements were made through the implementation of a LiDAR sensor and an automatic level system on a scale bridge. Seven tests were executed with varied support conditions consisting of pins and springs. The bridge was statically loaded with 117,93 kgs. at midspan. The springs were used to simulate damage at the support. The deflection difference between manual and LiDAR was 1,3 millimeters, while the stiffness difference was 20% accounting for both the LiDAR and level system.
