Abstract: |
Steel-concrete composite bridge deck combines the advantages of both steel deck and concrete deck. This paper proposes a new type of composite bridge deck with bulb flat ribs. Bulb flat is widely used as a stiffener of the plate in ship and bridge constructions. But it is rarely mentioned in current study of composite deck. For that vacancy, two full-scale specimens were fabricated and tested in this paper to study the bending mechanical properties of composite deck with bulb flat ribs. By a static loading test, the experiment investigated the failure characteristics, deflection, slip, strains and crack width. The results indicate a good combination of steel and concrete, for no obvious slip or delamination was observed. And the strain distribution obeys plane cross-section assumption. The mechanical response features an elastic-plastic performance. The test proves that composite bridge deck with bulb flat ribs has a good ductility and a high bending bearing capacity. |
