Abstract: |
The aging of RC deck slabs on existing bridges is a serious social problem in Japan. Holes may appear on the RC deck slabs, obstructing road traffic. Therefore, a diagnostic technology that can quickly and accurately evaluate the structural integrity of RC slabs needs to be established. The authors have developed a new method for inspecting and diagnosing existing RC deck slabs using self- propelled impact vibration equipment (SIVE). In this study, the accuracy of measuring RC deck slab deflection was verified in a laboratory experiment. Also, impact load was applied to the RC deck slab of a composite bridge that had been in service for 56 years, and the deterioration tendency was evaluated from the deflection distribution. The correspondence between the evaluation and visual inspection results was then verified. |
