Abstract:

Gene is the life code, recording and passing the genetic information. The ecological gene of Huizhou traditional dwellings is implicit and different from the external shape being dominant character. The article analyses the excellent ecological gene from three different aspects, settlement’s external ecological environment, interior layout, space and building fabric gene of enclosure structure. Huizhou traditional dwellings deserved modern building to study still. Finally, it expects that modern design can distill the gene and plant it into modern architecture and explore a road of innovation suitable modern design for Huizhou residential district.
