Abstract: |
In this study, the major quantities of 8 suspension bridges (SB) and cable-stayed-suspension bridges (CSSB) from 1,000m to 4,500m in midspan were calculated based on the structural validity. Based on the calculated quantity, the economic and structural suitability of each bridge type for the same span was compared. Since the systemic stiffness of the CSSB can be more improved by adopting concrete girder, it was confirmed that the CSSB has advantage in securing economic efficiency, reducing deflections and the period of erection program, and increasing wind resistance. |
