Abstract: |
Although there are numerous projects and references related to the assessment of risks linked to climate change in general, the implementation of specific studies in road networks or sections is not, nowadays, simple. In this regard, the World Road Association (PIARC) has been working since 2015 on the development of a methodological framework to facilitate the inclusion of climate change considerations in the planning, design, construction, maintenance and operation of road infrastructure in different countries. This methodological framework has been adapted for the Spanish case by the ATC Working Group on "Climate Change and Resilience in Roads" and will be published soon, ensuring its consistency with international and European references on the subject. The methodology described above should be applied to the different assets of the road network. In the case of bridges, the methodological application requires the particularization of impacts, hazards and structures sensitivity matrix, for which a series of case studies will be analyzed. Special attention will be paid to the study of temperatures and intense precipitation in the area. The methodological application aims at the adoption of an adaptation plan to increase the resilience of the structures of our network. |
