Abstract: |
The paper presents experimental results on bending of reinforced concrete specimens, strengthened with carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) strips bonded to the concrete cover with an epoxy resin adhesive. Under normal temperature conditions (230C), adhesive bonding process takes seven days. The process can be accelerated by heating the strip with the Sika CarboHeater–2, a prototype heating device. The study was conducted to check whether it is possible to use the prototype heating device when the strip is bonded to the concrete cover (which has not been practiced yet), and to determine the effective heating temperature for the curing time reduced to 90 minutes. The analysis of the strengthening ratio in tested specimens, relative to the reference ones, allowed the selection of the suitable heating temperature. |
