Chronology

5 February 2009

A fifteen container coal barge loses power, is pushed downstream by the current and then strikes the bridge's central pier. The Indiana Department of Transportation closes the bridge for several hours to inspect it for damage. When no damage is found, the bridge is reopened later the same day.

9 September 2011

The bridge is closed because cracks in main loadbearing members are found during an inspection.

17 February 2012, 23:50

The bridge is re-opened after completion of repairs.
