1096 | Abbot Artaud begins with the construction of a new church. |

21 April 1104 | Dedication of the choir and the transept. |
1106 | Heavily taxed the inhabitants revolt and kill Abbot Artaud. |
25 July 1120 | A fire destroys the Carolingian nave. 1200 persons perish. |
1165 | Fire in one of the crypts under the choir. |
1166 | Thomas Becket pronounces the excommunication of King Henry II of England in the church. |
1537 | The abbey becomes secular. |
1819 | The wooden frames of the Tower Saint-Michel are catch on fire after lightning hits the tower. |
1979 | Listed as a World Heritage Site. |
