Abstract:

Investigation of crack width in textile reinforced concrete

Several studies have verified the suitability of textile reinforced concrete (TRC) for the strengthening of existing reinforced concrete structures. Furthermore, experiments have also shown that TRC strengthening layers have a positive impact on the crack behavior of tested specimens. This effect indicates a high potential for the use of TRC as a protection layer for increasing the durability of existing structures. In order to use TRC as a protective layer, however, a better understanding of its crack behavior and crack width development is needed. The present study reports on experimental investigations of TRC crack behavior under unidirectional stress and a theoretical model for predicting maximum crack width.
