Abstract:

New footbridge in Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve

As part of the Plan for the Regeneration of the upper part of the firth of Oka, it was decided to build a pedestrian bridge which would give continuation to the footpath between the towns of Gernika-Lumo and Kortezubi. This article describes the various alternatives studied and the design that was finally chosen. The footbridge is a weathering steel box girder, with a main span of 28,40 m. Several aspects of design and dimensioning are also included in this paper.
