Abstract:

One describes two footbridges different in their typology, behaviour and form.

The first one, which overhangs the Palermo-Messina railway line in the borough of Oliveri (Me), has an-all steel carrying structure, whose crossing ground is built of prefabricated reinforced concrete panels standing on beams through saddles, that were on purpose planned out and opportunely constrained to absorb the shearing stresses of the level ground. The footbridge, whose span is 31.50 m, was divided into three elements for transport reasons. They were wholly made in factory; afterwards they were assembled by sixteen connections, eight of which were bolted and the remaining eight ones were welded.

The second footbridge was planned and was built in the new station in Novara Centrale. It is crucial for the building design of the Turin-Milan section of the Turin-Venice speedy line, which aims to connect Turin with the Malpensa Airport by Novara on the occasion of the Winter Olympiad 2006.

The composite structure of steel and concrete is built of structural steels, whose different section depends on the Mohniè configuration. It is 18.00 m in length; its transversal axle base of trusses is 3.29 m.
