Abstract:

An analytical model for the steel bridge cable is developed by using the geometrically exact rod model and fitting the nonlinear moment-curvature-tension relationship of the cable. The cable is assumed to be helically wrapped with constant initial layer angle. The unbalanced force on a wire is calculated and friction between layers is fully considered.
