Structural Description
This suspension bridge, one of three built in the GDR from 1954 to 1956, is a rather a-typical suspension bridge. It consists of a suspended central span flanked on either site by through trusses tapering from the pylons towards the abutments. The suspension cables are not anchored in rock, soil or a concrete anchorage block, but instead they are connected to the top chords of the side-span trusses.
