Notes
The Regency Suspension Bridge is a typical example of the suspension techniques of the 1930's. Although not the only suspension bridge left in service, the Regency bridge is among a handful of these bridges left in Texas. This type of construction has all but vanished from county-sized bridges.
The Regency bridge is located near a small community called Regency about halfway between Brownwood and San Saba in western Mills county near the San Saba county line. Spanning the Colorado River, the border between San Saba and Mills county, the Regency bridge is a cable suspension bridge supported upon permanent abutment towers. The bridge spans 340 feet from tower to tower. Both cables are pulled tight for another 134 feet behind each tower where they are anchored into the ground.
