Transport infrastructure in Poland is currently being dynamically developed and modernized. Specifically, construction of new sections of motorways and city ring roads should be emphasized. These newly built structures meet modern European standards. A salient example of these large scale construction works is A8 Motorway Ring Road of Wrocław, being part of Wrocław’s preparations for 2012 UEFA European Football Championship. Two long prestressed concrete box viaducts (300 m and 750 m), with spans from 40,0 m to 60,0 m, included in the ring road, are presented in this paper. The structures are similar in form but differ both in terms of architectural features as well as in applied construction technologies, discussed and compared herein. The paper presents technological assumptions and conclusions drawn from the comparison of the technologies. |
