The main criteria for the design of wooden structures are the deformation behaviour and the stability. Ribbed shells made of stacked and screwed planks are the latest developments in timber shell construction. This structural form makes it possible to create spectacular roofs by the simple use of planks and screws. For the central meeting area of the EXPO 2000 in Hanover, Germany, a wide-spaced roof construction of ten square "umbrellas" was constructed. |
