Abstrait:

The Rama VIII Cable-stayed Bridge is located in Bangkok over the Chao Phraya River, between the existing Somdetch Phra Pinklao Bridge and Thonburi Bridge. Construction of the bridge has been completed ahead of schedule and was opened to traffic in May 2002. The Rama VIII bridge is an important component in a new eastwest link in central Bangkok and a key part of the ongoing initiatives to improve the flow of traffic throughout the Bangkok metropolitan area. The main bridge is a cable-stayed bridge with a total length of 475 m and a main span of 300 m over the Chao Phraya River. It provides a low level crossing with a 10.4 m vertical clearance over the 100 m wide navigation channel.
