Abstract: |
The New Millennium Bridge, located on the southern coast of Korea, is a multiple span suspension bridge with two 650m-long main spans. Distinguished from other suspension bridges constructed for the last decade in Korea, this bridge is the first multi-span suspension bridge. In this paper, two distinctive features in the stiffening deck erection are introduced: (1) the unbalanced sequence for lifting the stiffening deck blocks and (2) derailment prevention system of the block lifting device (also known as lifting gantry). |
