More Than Half of Steel Box Girders for Largest Bridge Asia Installed
More than half of the steel box girders for the Longjiang Bridge in southwest China's Yunnan Province had been installed into place as of Sunday. The bridge under construction has the largest span in an Asian mountainous area. A total of 97 steel box girders are needed to build the bridge. With a span of 1,196 meters, the bridge is 33.5 meters wide and 280 meters high. It is the first steel box girder suspension bridge with a span of more than 1,000 meters in a Chinese mountainous area. It is also the only project that has not been finished on Baoshan-Tengchong high-speed line. All the steel box girders will be installed by the end of October this year, and the bridge will be opened at the end of next June.
